Video Conversion

In the past our video conversion software has been spotty on what videos it will let pass through its conversion process and which ones it will not. This is no longer the case. We have upgraded our video converter and now nearly 95% of all videos being uploaded are passed through our system without errors. The majority of the previous errors were resulting from videos in the .wmv and .mov formats. Now that these files are being passes through the system error free users will begin to see an increase in the number of files they have uploaded. Although there are still a few codecs that our decoded/encoder can not handle, we believe that delivering on 95% of users videos is a great accomplishment. We have also minimized the time between upload/conversion and approval. Overall our users are seeing anywhere from a 50% to 60% decrease in wait time, for their videos to go live.

Guest Blogger - How I Make Money with Videos

This week Troy Wood will be blogging about how he earns enough from revenue sharing programs including nelsok.com to pay his BMW Lease payment.

--

I first started using the revenue sharing model on nelsok.com about 4 months ago. I had never really heard about nelsok.com but found them through a search engine. Once I read their about page and understood that they used a 3rd party to let me advertise and make money on their site I wanted to try it.

I started with one video and shared it with my friends and family via email. This did not result in much revenue for me. So I decided to post a link on my myspace page and on digg.com. After doing this I began to see an increase in the number of views my video was getting. Adding to the number of views were visitors coming directly to my video from within nelsok.com, these were visitors I didnt have to try to get.

I now started to see a little revenue and uploaded more videos and promoted each in the same way as the first. After just a few weeks I was seeing my daily earnings in the $10 range... and 30 days in a month multiplied by $10 per day is about $300 per month which I was very happy about because I didn't have to do anything to get the money.

Needless to say I have kept uploading and promoting videos and my earnings have continued to rise. I would suggest that anyone who wants to make some easy money try to make it the way I did.

Some Information

Three topics...
1) Our software/script
2) Our earnings
3) Our Competition

1) We are constantly receiving requests asking for our "script". To clear things up about this issue, I would like to say that at this time we are not interested in selling our "script". Even if nelsok.com did decide that selling our script was the best way for us to pursue new business, the site does not use a script in the traditional sense of the word. We use multiple scripting engines, and multiple languages across multiple servers. The majority of users looking to purchase our script would have a near impossible time implementing the software onto their hosting account and a very difficult time implementing the script on their own server(s).

2) We are also contacted and asked how much money we make on the site and how much money our users make. Because our main source of revenue is adsense and our customers source of revenue is adsense we are unable to share this information per the adsense TOS. Our users who opt in to the advertising revenues also put a great deal of trust into nelsok.com and we are not going to take advantage of that trust by disclosing their earnings. However I will generalize and say that we have some users who earn 5 cents per day and some users who earn upwards of $100 per day.

3) Because nelsok.com has some unique features that other video hosting websites do not offer we are contacted and/or probed by our competition for our source or methodology of some of these features. To be clear we are not interesting in selling in part or in whole our source code. Some of our competition has also requested to partner with us in our efforts, we are happy to listen to offers but currently we are yet to hear anything that makes sense for nelsok.com to engage in a partnership.
